Tutorial by Topaz (1473) Topaz’s Tutorial

Basic Idea
The basic idea to Esirus is to role play horses. If you are new to role playing, here is a little help: First of all, role playing is where you ‘pretend’ to be a horse. We call role playing RPing. When you are RPing, you do all the things a real life (RL=real life) horse would do such as; fight, have foals, run, have a soul mate, just learn how to survive on your own. When RPing you post with other people who are playing different horses. RPing is always done in third person (example: She looked at the stag). More advanced RPers use vocabulary created just for horse RPing. Now we will continue on to creating your horse.

Horses of Esirus
Creating a horse To create your own horse on Esirus, first click on the navigation button titled ‘world’. Next click on the icon with the horse on it labeled ‘create a horse’. Next fill out the entire form and click submit to create it.

Taking care of your horse After you have created a horse you need to know the basics on how to take care of it. If you look right under the navigation buttons on any page of Esirus, there will be the following information: Active horse, Horse health, Credits and Mail. Now we will first focus on the first two; Active horse and Horse health. First of all, your active horse is the horse that you are currently in play with. For example; if I had a horse named star and it was my active horse, when I posted somewhere on the forums then I would be posting with Star. Now, to make one of your horses your active horse follow these easy steps:
1. Click the button ‘home’
2. Click on the ‘view your horses’ icon.
3. Now, scroll down to where it lists all of your horses and find the horse you want to be your current active horse and click on it’s name.
4. Next scroll down to the very bottom of your horse’s page you are now on and click the button titled ‘make this your active horse’.
Now that you have your active horse set, you can start doing things with your horse but before we get into that lets finish up with your horse’s health. Your horse’s health can go down if; a)You train your horse and it becomes tired b)Enter into a challenge and lose. To regain your horse’s health you can go the the ‘explore’ button then click on the ‘lake of healing’. Once at the lake of healing, click the button titled ‘drink the waters’. You can only drink the waters once a day.

Doing things with your horse First off, you can RP with your horse. To post and RP with someone you can do one of the following: a)click the ‘explore’ button in the navigation bar. Now click on ‘mainland’ from the map. Now there should be a list of forums that you may choose from to post. To post click one of the forum pictures then click ‘start a new topic’. b) You also may RP in someone’s herd. To see a list of herds go to ‘status’ from the navigation bar and then click the icon next to ‘All herds’. From here you also may create a herd of your own by clicking on ‘create a herd’ and filling out the form. c) The other way to RP with your horse is to click on the ‘map’ button in the navigation bar. There you will find a small talk board where you may RP with other horses. Other things to do with your horse are located on the ‘explore’ page where you will find a map of different places that you can take your horse.

Battles Battles increase your horse’s experience points yet often decrease your horse’s health if you lose the challenge. To challenge a horse go to the horse’s page (the horse you want to challenge’s page) and right above their name at the top there should be a link labeled ‘challenge’. Select this then fill out the form and press submit. Now the user that owns the horse you have challenged must accept your challenge to start the fight. Once the fight has started you will have a move. To enter the fight first of all, go to your horse’s page (the horse that challenged the opposing horse) and above their name there should be a link called ‘A fight is waiting!’, click this to enter the fighting ring. Now you can make your move if your opponent has made their move already. If it is your turn to move, select either ‘bite’ or ‘scratch’ from the drop-down menu and then click the ‘fight’ button. Now the results will be shown on if you missed or hit the opposing horse. This process with continue with alternating turns between your horse and the opposing horse until one of your horse’s has no health left. If you win or lose the battle it will be recorded on your horse’s profile.

Clans When you create a horse, it is placed in a random clan of one of the following; Earth, Fire, Water and Air. They are basically categories that your horse is put into.

Out of Character
OOC=Out Of Character

Messaging Esirus includes a very convenient messaging system where other users may message you. Messages sent to you are only viewed by you of coarse, unlike posts which can be viewed by everyone. When you have new mail, the information directly underneath the navigation bar has ‘mail’ info in it. Besides the word ‘mail’, it will say no new if you have no new mail (duh) and if you have new mail it will appear in read with the amount of new mail you have.

Esirus Credits ECs=Esirus Credits. You get ECs from selling horses or foals to other people, looting people at ‘loot town’ under the button in navigation ‘explore’ or from the random events that happen to you at random times and at random pages. If a random event happens there will be a small box at the top of the page with an icon and then writing explaining what the random event was. In this case, getting ECs in a random event is always finding them on the floor. You can sell one of your horses for ECs by going to the horse’s page then scrolling to the bottom, typing in the amount you want to sell it for and then pressing ‘sell this horse for $$’ (The amount you entered will appear where the $$ is).

Profiles Your profile is basically your ‘home page’ that everyone may view. Often times people will like to decorate their pages with a layout which (if you cant make them) can be done by someone else that plays Esirus and offers making layouts as one of their services. To edit your profile go to the button ‘home’ in the navigation bar and then click on ‘Your profile’ then scroll a bit down and you can now edit those fields (the description field is the one that appears on your page and allows HTML). You may also spice up your user name by putting an icon in your ‘display name’ field instead of plain text. To put an icon in your display name you must have the url to the icon that you want. If you have a url then insert the following html in your display name, delete the * and replace ‘URL HERE’ with the url to the pic you want: <*img src=URL HERE>

Chats Under the button ‘chat’ in the navigation bar, there are several different chat boards: User 1, User 2, Horse 1, Horse 2 and Horse 3. There is also a small box located at the right-hand top of any page on Esirus with an instant chat box in it, to talk in it type your message in the field and press ‘quote’, when you press ‘quote’ it will take you to the forums page for some odd, unknown reason J.

Other OOC Stuff Located under the ‘status’ button in the navigation bar is the following OOC things: Esirus News, Upcoming Changes, Contests, Banners and Buttons, Referral Program, Staff members, Sister Sites, Search users, High scores, All users, All horses, All herds, All groups, All terras and All private lands. (some of those are lists that lead to in character (IC=in character) things but I though I would include them anyway :D) Ah yes and I almost forgot, the page that you went to in order to get to this page! The Help page! Now, I really hope you know what that is.. its pretty self-explanatory, :P.

And that concludes my luvverly awesomest cool tutorial (like my vocab? :D) If you have any questions you can e-mail Esirus at: esirusa@yahoo.com or you may e-mail me if you really want to at: bunnyshep@msn.com Hope you enjoyed the tutorial! (WOW, that was a long tutorial, it took up 3 pages on word!! *pats self on back* :D)
