Clover’s Esirus Tutorial

I. Getting started

First I must say to all you new players out there reading this welcome to the site! I’m sure you’ll enjoy our friendly little community of wild horse role players. Remember to watch the language, be nice, and I’m sure everyone will be nice right back.  If you have a question there are plenty of people on here that would be happy to help you.

The first thing you should see when you log in is the home page.  Here you’ll see a link to the news, your profile, a link to view your horses, your mail box (you may also check your messages by clicking on the link right next to your credits that says mail, but more on those later) and a log out link, (also appears right under the online users.)

A.     News

This link will take you to the news page.  Here you can see all of the important updates around Esirus by the admins. It’s important to check the news often or else you might end up missing something very important.

B.     Your Profile

Here you can change your name, your password, update your description (which is what appears on your page for others to see) and check how many points you have, change your e-mail, and also see your horses.

C.     Viewing your horses

This link is pretty self-explanatory, click here to see all of your horses and change from one to the next. (More on active horses later though.)

D.     Mail Box

Your mailbox is where you can send and receive private messages from and to other players. At the top you’ll see how many messages you have that are new out of how many you have total. Right under that you’ll see a link titled “Compose [A Message]” click on this if you want to send a message to another player. This will take you to another page.  Just enter the player’s ID, a subject, and the message and viola! You’re good to go, all you have to do is press send.

You may also send someone a message by going to his or her profile and clicking on “Message User” and this will add their number in for you.

E.      Logging out

Pretty self-explanatory, click on one of the links that says, “Log out” to log out.  If you see multiple users on the online list, it’s because they closed the window and then came back to the site without logging out first.

II. You’re First Horse

Now that you know what all the links on the home page are for, you’re ready to start your journey on Esirus.  The first thing you should do is click on the “World” link and get your first horse.  To do this you’re best bet would probably be to create a horse.  To do this, click on the “Create A Horse” link and follow the directions and fill out the information about your dream horse. Pick a name for your horse, if you have a photo of your horse uploaded to the Internet (To someplace such as photobucket, tiny pic, or another image host.  You should never use a link that someone else has saved without permission.  You could be hot linking, which is not a good thing.), once you do that pick the size of your horse, the breed, if it’s a mare (female) or stallion (male), the color, what it’s personality and mood are (these can always be changed), and finally add a bit about it in the description box. Once you’re happy, click on the submit button and you’ve got your horse.  You can create up to two horses for free, and remember if you get a Friesian that it will always be black.

If creating a horse isn’t what you want to do, and you have a few ECs (Esirus Credits, the game version of money) to spare you can buy one form someone else.  Make sure you willing to spend the amount of that particular horse though; you cannot get your money back most of the time.

III. Role playing

Well this is a role-playing site isn’t it? There are a few places to role-play. I’ll describe them all for you here.

A.     The Map

The map is like a chat room where you can role-play.  Just type in your message (it’s a limited space, so you might have to post it in parts) and hit submit.  You may also whinny, bite another character, whisper to them, or nuzzle another character. If you cannot fine your horse look at the location coordinates. If you still can’t fine it you are probably behind another horse.  Just move around until you come it a clear spot and you could be able to find yourself.

B.     The Forums

To get to the forums you have to click on explore, then click on Mainland.  Here you will see a list of different boards both in character and out of character that you may post on. The good thing about posting here is that with each post you gain both ECs, and credits. (Credits do not currently have any use in the game except for the top five boards, which has no benefits) Remember to post on the right boards with the first things (i.e. no stallions posting looking for mares in the lone maiden board.)

C.     Chat

Chat works like the map board except without the map or extra options. There are three different horse rooms, as well as two user rooms.

IV. Herds

Herds are quite simple.  To make one, go to status, find “All Herds” and then click. Once you reach the next page just fill in the information and your new herd will be created.  It’s up to you to recruit members and assign ranks.  Also remember to go to your horse’s page and create a land to put into your new herd.  To do this make sure to create a terra, then add the land by clicking add new land. That’s really all there is to it.

V. Fighting

A.     Training

The first part of fighting is the training. You active horse gains minor points randomly when browsing the site. Once you have gained at least 1,000 points you can go to world, and click on “Train A Horse.” Choose the horse and what to train it in, and you’ll get your higher stat raised.  You can also spend money but giving them random (between 0-40) minor stat points until you gain 1,000 and get another point in that area.

1. The different points affect your horse as follows.

Stamina: The higher the stamina the high your horse’s hit points will be went the site heals the horses, which it does daily.  Your stamina points will decrease as you fight another horse and they do damage, after visiting Loot Town , or if another horse bites you on the map.

a.       The Lake of Healing

The Lake of Healing is a place where you may go once a day to heal your horse a random amount of points.  You can only heal one horse though so choose carefully if you have more then one. With the lake it is possible to have more then your total amount of stamina points, however they are only temporary.

b.      Loot Town

You horse must have more then 10 stamina points to loot Loot Town .  You can loot it once a day and you get a few thousand ECs, but the downside is your horse will get tired, and it’s health will go down.

Intelligence: Simply put, the higher the intelligence points the more moves you make in a battle.  You don’t get a new move every point though, it’s more like every ten points.

Speed: The higher the speed, the less likely you are to miss in a battle.

Strength: With higher strength points you can do more damage in a single more then with a lower strength.

Defense: Defense is exactly what it says, the high the defense the less damage your opponent will do to your horse.

Beauty: This doesn’t do anything at the moment.  Once shows are created they will probably have a roll, but for now, you just get to say your horse is pretty.

B.     Challenging

To challenge another horse just go to their page and click on Challenge, fill out the information and send it in. You can fight for experience, a piece of land, a terra (which is somewhere to keep a bunch of pieces of land), or a mare.

C.     Your challenges

Too see what horses have challenged your horse, go to there page, make sure they’re your active horse, and click on the link.  You’ll see challenges you’ve made and challenges made to you, as well as their status (either pending, declined, or accepted.) If you are currently in a fight, you’ll see the link replaced by one that says “A fight is Waiting!” and you can click on that to go to your fight. Regardless of if you win or loose you’ll gain some experience points.

VI. Breeding

To breed a horse a stallion much make a breeding request, then the mare must accept it and fill out the form it gives them.  The mare can give the foal to anyone they want, or keep it. If you want to breed two of your own horses, have the stallion as your active horse and go to the view all horses link on the status page.  Find the horse and click on make a request. You’ll get a foal that will be 0 years old.  Horses age once a month and are foals until they reach three years old.

VII. Site information

The site is still pretty new, and some links still don’t work or lead to pages that aren’t there.  Just sit tight and keep an eye out for new things to pop up. Also you may experience random logging out and times where service isn’t available just sit tight again and stick with it.  The server can be a bit… temperamental. If you have anymore questions just ask one of the sites friendly members, or message #916 and she’ll be sure to help you as best she can.
